Composting

What if we could make something useful out of our food waste?
Oh wait... we can!

Composting is a process of decomposing plant and food waste and recycling organic materials, this includes:

  • all food waste (coffee grounds, lettuce, potato/carrot peels, banana peels, avocado skins)

  • paper tea bags

  • cardboard

  • tree leaves

  • black & white newspaper

  • wood shavings or sawdust

  • hair & fur

  • aquarium plants

  • herbs & spices

  • - unpopped/burnt popcorn

Is there anything that should not be composted? Of course!

  • meat & fish

  • dairy, fats, oils

  • plants or wood treated with pesticides or preservatives

  • diseased or insect-infested plants

  • charcoal ash

  • dog/cat waste

  • disposable nappies

  • cooked food

Home composting is the most environmentally-friendly way of dealing with kitchen and garden waste, plus it produces compost that can be used as an excellent soil improver.
